In April, the CNU Writers’ Conference Advisory Council marked the end of an era. Ann Shalaski, president of the advisory council, stepped down after 13 years of faithful service (only missing a grand total of TWO meetings in those 13 years!). Ann will be staying on with the advisory council as a member and is passing the President’s torch to Collin Norman. Ann has thankfully left us with some parting words on her previous years and the future of the conference:
“I appreciate having had the opportunity to work with everyone and chair the advisory board for the past thirteen years.
Planning, organizing, and presenting Christopher Newport University’s Annual Writers Conference has been satisfying, exciting, and memorable. We are fortunate to have a thriving writing community of people who are serious about their craft. So much so, 2016 will mark the 35th anniversary of the conference. There will be bigger and better things to come under Collin Norman’s leadership. I have great confidence in his ability and vision for success. Collin doesn’t see obstacles, he sees possibilities. I look forward to helping him along with other board members to shape and develop future conferences we can be proud of.”
